Description
This thobe is estimated to have been made in the 1980-1990s and is from Al Bireh. It is made on velvet which is the most difficult material to do tatreez or tahriri on and requires a skilled embroiderer. The chest panel “Qaba” is an iconic Malak design using Tahriri embroidery. The dress has several watch motifs on the side panels, back bottom panel and sleeves which symbolize life and time in Palestinian culture. The watch motif was invented by the women of Beit Lahem. This thobe gives me Eid-Christmas vibes, very celebratory and fun piece to have!
