Description
This thobe is estimated to have been made in the 1980s. The chest panel “Qabbah” has an intricate crimson red and blue chevron “V” shape that is believed to have Sumerian mythology references to the descent of Innana into the underworld. The shoulders of the thobe are embroidered with vases called “Qowara.” The dress has six embroidered side panels called “Banayek” embroidered with grape vines on the front and back. The sleeves are also embellished with the same grapevine motif.
Condition
This thobe is vintage and has been lightly worn
There are no rips, tears, stains or odors
