Handmade Kufiya Shawl

$330.00

Palestinian. Handmade. Tatreez. Modern.

The Kufiya Shawl: A Symbol of Resilience and Tradition

Crafted with care and dedication, this high-quality 100% cotton Kufiya shawl, adorned with intricate rose motifs and handmade fringe, represents the enduring beauty and strength of the Palestinian spirit. When you wear this shawl, you’re not just embracing a piece of tradition—you’re supporting Palestinian women and preserving the art of tatreez through cooperatives that keep our indigenous practices alive.

Elegance and Comfort Combined

The Kufiya shawl is a stunning piece that flows gracefully, offering an elegant and timeless addition to your wardrobe. Its thick, luxurious fabric ensures that it will keep you warm during chilly evenings while adding a touch of sophistication to any outfit. The shawl drapes beautifully, making it versatile enough to be worn casually or dressed up for more formal events. Its modern yet traditional design effortlessly pairs with both contemporary and classic looks.

A Collaborative Creation

This Kufiya shawl was made in collaboration with a talented cooperative in the West Bank, featuring the work of six skilled Palestinian women: Abeer, Linda, Khitam, Hanadi, Amal, and Umm Abdullah, who live in Beit Lahem. The women spent two months carefully crafting each shawl, providing them with an essential source of income to support their families, send their children to school, and cover medical expenses.

Reviving a Tradition

The original design of this Kufiya shawl was once produced by UNRWA cooperatives in Gaza. However, due to the ongoing blockade, siege, and reductions in UNRWA aid, these shawls have not been made in years. In light of these challenges, I felt it was vital to bring the Kufiya shawl back to life— as an act of solidarity with the resilient women of Gaza.
