This beautiful vintage handmade cross-stitched thobe is estimated to have been made in the 80s-90's.
The chest panel "Qabbah" has an intricate crimson red "V" shape that is believed to have Sumerian mythology references to the descent of Innana into the underworld. The chest panel is embellished with cross motifs called "Saleb" and "Sarwa" upside down cypress trees necklace. This cypress necklace originates from Gaza. There are six embroidered branches or side panels called "Banayek" of the dress. The sleeves are embroidered with feather motifs, cypress trees, and eight-point Bethlehem stars. The back bottom panel "Diyal" is embroidered with candle motifs.
