Palestinian. Tatreez. Hand embroidered. Vintage.

Description

This thobe is estimated to have been made in the 1980s-1990s. It is heavily embroidered, you can feel the weight of the love and labor that has gone into crafting this thobe. The woman who embroidered this thobe is a tatreez master.

The shoulders are lined with vibrant velvet and the chest panel “Qabah” is intricately embroidered with gold flowers using metal threads that accent the red threads on a black background using a stitch method called “tahriri” and forming a heart shape in the middle of the chest. Very cutesy.

There are six panels total of the double horses called “Al Khail” with the vase motif (Front panels, side panels and back panels). Every other vase motif is accented with gold metal flowers. The connecting stitch “Manajel” is embroidered with a rainbow stitch which is iconic for the 80s-90s.
